چکیده
Ramie (Boehmeria nivea L.), belonging to Urticaceae, is principally used for fabric production. It a well-known natural fiber material ancient clothing. Despite its important position and application value, the understanding on genetic regulation mechanism of quality limited. Here, we generate chromosome-scale, high-quality reference genome ramie, in which, approximately 90.2% assembled sequences have been anchored 14 pseudochromosomes. Totally 27,664 protein-coding genes are predicted which cover 268.24 Mb region genome. Comparative genomic analysis reveals that 2,047 796 gene clusters expand contract, respectively, underlying significant plant hormone signal transduction cellulose/lignin biosynthesis pathways. An integrative combining quantitative trait loci (QTL), comparative transcriptomic data, cytological experiments unravels molecular regulatory ramie fineness, especially critical regulating role ethylene. This study would lay solid foundation research biology provide valuable improvement varieties.

Molecular Cloning, Recombinant Expression and Antifungal Activity of BnCPI, a Cystatin in Ramie (Boehmeria nivea L.)
Phytocystatins play multiple roles in plant growth, development and resistance to pests and other environmental stresses. A ramie (Boehmeria nivea L.) phytocystatin gene, designated as BnCPI, was isolated from a ramie cDNA library and its full-length cDNA was obtained by rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE). The full-length cDNA sequence (691 bp) consisted of a 303 bp open reading frame (ORF...
متن کاملTranscriptome Analysis of Ramie (Boehmeria nivea L. Gaud.) in Response to Ramie Moth (Cocytodes coerulea Guenée) Infestation
The ramie moth Cocytodes coerulea Guenée (RM) is an economically important pest that seriously impairs the yield of ramie, an important natural fiber crop. The molecular mechanisms that underlie the ramie-pest interactions are unclear up to date. Therefore, a transcriptome profiling analysis would aid in understanding the ramie defense mechanisms against RM. In this study, we first constructed ...
متن کاملDevelopment and validation of molecular markers for characterization of Boehmeria nivea var. nivea and Boehmeria nivea var. tenacissima
BACKGROUND The root of Boehmeria spp (ramie) is a hepatoprotective Chinese herbal medicine. Medicinal properties vary between Boehmeria nivea var. nivea and Boehmeria nivea var. tenacissima, which are local species found in Taiwan. As commercial preparations may use either species, there is a need for a rapid and simple assay to identify variants for quality control. METHODS Four methods were...

Ramie (Boehmeria nivea L. Gaud) is a highly versatile herbaceous plant which is widely cropped in southern China. The success of this herbaceous plant relies on wide use in modern industry. Understanding the profiling of expressed genes in phloem and xylem of ramie is crucial for improving its industrial performance. Herein, we uncover the transcriptome profile in phloem and xylem in present st...
متن کاملDevelopment and Characterization of 1,827 Expressed Sequence Tag-Derived Simple Sequence Repeat Markers for Ramie (Boehmeria nivea L. Gaud)
Ramie (Boehmeria nivea L. Gaud) is one of the most important natural fiber crops, and improvement of fiber yield and quality is the main goal in efforts to breed superior cultivars. However, efforts aimed at enhancing the understanding of ramie genetics and developing more effective breeding strategies have been hampered by the shortage of simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. In our previous s...
